Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation

Vidyalaya is introducing Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation from class VIth to Xth during 2011 onwards. It needs to observe the scholastic and co-scholastic areas like Life skills, attitudes & values and literary & clubs, health & physical education. The continuous and comprehensive Evaluation is a process to provide holistic profile of the learner through regular assessment of both scholastic and co-scholastic aspects of development over the total span of learning time.

PART 1(A): Scholastic Areas

Overall grade of Formative Assessments over the two terms (F1+F2+F3+F4) needs to be given and the overall grade of Summative Assessment (S1+S2) must be given. A total of the two grades need to be given in the relevant column. Details of assessment are given in details below. As far as scholastic (B) relating to work experience, Art Education and Physical and Health Education /Games is concerned, the grading Scale and Indicators of assessment have been given.

PART 2: Co-Scholastic Areas

PART 2(A): Life Skills

These are to be filled in after a period of observation over one year by the Class Teacher in consultation with the subject teachers. Students will be assessed on all the goups of Life Skills. The guidelines for filling this are given in detail later in the document.

PART 2(B): Attitudes and Values

Attitude towards Teachers ,School Mates, School Programmes and Enviornment need to be assessed on a three point scale after the observation over one year .The various tools and techniques to be used as well as the Indicators of Assessment need to be taken into consideration by the teachers .These will be filled in by the Class Teacher in consultation with all subject teachers.

Evaluation of Academic Subjects in Class IX

Six assessments are proposed:

Type of assessment Percentage of weightage in academic session Month Term wise weightage
FIRST TERM
Formative Assessment -1 10% June-July FA-1=10%
Formative Assessment -2 10% August - September FA-2=10%
Summative Assessment -1 30% September /October SA-1=30%
SECOND TERM
Formative Assessment -3 10% November-December FA-3=10%
Formative Assessment -4 10% January-February FA-4=10%
Summative Assessment -2 30% March SA-2=30%

Total Formative Assessment = FA-1 + FA-2 + FA-3 + FA-4 = 40%
Summative Assessment = SA-1 + SA-2 = 60%

The following record sheets/formats which are of more pragmatic and futuristic have been generated after a good deal of discussion.

1.Scholastic areas:

There are two formats, one for the assessment tools and evaluation scoring of every student in each subject and the second one is the consolidated teacher record card of the subject for the whole section/class. Different tools of assessment with appropriate weightage of marks for each subject in Formative Assessment [ F.A.] is suggested for maintaining uniformity. A decision has been taken to implement CCE for all classes(VI-X). CBSE instructions are to be followed for FA and SA for classes IX & X.

2.Co-Scholastic Areas

Each area of assessment is to recorded in a record sheet which is having certain pages whose details are given below:

Sl.No. Class
1 VI to VIII IX X

In order to assess and record the areas of CCE teachers are identified for each and every area of assessment.( Annexures – I &II)
Principals have been directed to give a copy of this CCE Booklet to every teacher with proper acknowledgement and discuss his/her role and responsibilities in implementing the CCE. Detail of assessments of CCE are to be made known to the students as well as parents periodically

Since JNVs are residential in nature, the Vidyalayas have to give student profile which contains the entire record of a student date from joining to leaving the vidyalaya. . A booklet designed on student profile is also enclosed here with and the Vice Principal and Principal are responsible for the maintenance of student profile and handing over the same to the student while leaving the Vidyalaya.
